On semi-transparent marks the original pixels underneath can be recovered almost exactly, and on video the fixed-position mark is cleaned frame by frame. Does removing the sparkle reduce image quality?
No. Reverse alpha blending restores the pixels the watermark was blended over; everything outside the mark is untouched, so quality away from the logo is identical to the source.
